“Reed & Greenough: A vintage drinking den drops in the Marina”
When it comes to finding a really cool old antique, the trick is to look in places you don’t expect, and also at the Heat’s roster, right Juwan Howard? Bringing antique cool to the Marina (?!?), Reed & Greenough, opening Monday.
Named after a circa-1906 feed supply store that was looted for wood used to build its Scott St facade, R&G is an antique-looking gentleman‘s cocktail-ery in the Marina (from the dude behind Tortilla Heights and Fishbowl) armed with vintage-looking leather couches, rich mahogany… um… everything, and a shuffleboard table in back that’s 20ft long, also the suit size worn by Gheorghe Muresan. Drinks’ll be served at a long, front-room, copper-topped bar, and include vodka/gin-focused cocktails (five signature, five classic), 10 wines on tap, and a super-powered pint-filling system that’ll pour any of their 10 tap beers in less than two seconds, meaning you’ll have to wait an extra 58 seconds before Nic Cage is finally gone. Oh, and in addition to that massive shuffle setup, they’ll also have dartboards, and a pair of pool tables, with a faux
library because people in the Marina find it impossible to actually read in sunglasses separating the game room from the main bar.
The badass-ery will continue with all-day Happy Hour Sun-Wed, when they’ll also offer a fancy selection of three kinds of ice cubes, though Juwan would think it was much more Fab if there were Five.
